When it comes to hair extensions and exercise, usually the weave wins. The thought of having to wash and dry that mane is daunting. And sometimes you just don’t have the time. So instead of asking your stylist for a note to get out of gym, I have put together some tips for how to deal.
1. Loose Pony
Let your scalp breeeeeathe! If you suffocate it with a tight pony or a top not its more likely to get over heated and sweat even more. Opt for a loose pony that gets hair out of your face but still keeps your head cool.
2. Baby Powder or Clean Freak
Yes, dry shampoo is an obvious recommendation, but I find that nothing absorbs moisture better than good ole baby powder. Added bonus: blondes who are a little passed due for toning are given an instant platinum look after a few sprinkles!
If you are not a fan of the baby powder, i highly recommend Clean Freak from Not your mothers. It gives a super cold, fresh feel that leaves you feeling like you just took a shower.
3. Mini Shampoo Sesh
After more intense work outs a little soap and water is just necessary. On these days try separating as much extension from your natural hair as possible. How to do this: grab your longest extensions by the tail and start shaking out your shorter, natural hair. The more you shake, the more your natural with separate from the hair extensions. Then take your weave and put it in a low pony tail or bun.
Now find a sink/shower/whatever and lean over and shampoo your natural hair, while keeping your extensions as uninvolved as possible. Then just blow dry your natural hair and feel refreshed.
4. Hair Perfume
If you are someone who worries about stinky hair, it would be wise to invest in a good hair perfume. Yes it’s a real thing. A hair perfume is a much better idea than trying to spray your Chanel no. 5 on your mane, as it is full of alcohol and can dry out your hair.
